Ingredients
Cake — Bring to a Boil
- 2 sticks margarine
- 4 Tbsp cocoa
- 1 cup water
Add to Boiled Mixture
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tsp baking soda
Frosting — Cook on Stove
- 1 stick margarine
- 4 Tbsp cocoa
- 6 Tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 lb powdered sugar
Directions
- In a saucepan, bring 2 sticks margarine, 4 Tbsp cocoa, and 1 cup water to a boil.
- Remove from heat. Add flour, sugar, and salt and mix together.
- Then add eggs, sour cream, and baking soda. Mix well.
- Pour into a greased sheet pan and bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
- While cake is baking, make the frosting: combine margarine, cocoa, milk, vanilla, and nuts in a saucepan and heat on the stove. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar. Beat until smooth.
- Frost the cake while it is still hot.
Key tip: Frost while hot — the warm cake absorbs the frosting beautifully.
