Ingredients
- 1 head lettuce
- 1 green or red pepper
- 2 stalks celery
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 small can sliced water chestnuts
- 1 pkg frozen peas
- Grated cheese (for topping)
- 12 slices bacon, crumbled (for topping)
- Dressing:
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 pkg dry Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix (original flavor)
Directions
- Layer salad ingredients one after another in a large bowl or trifle dish: lettuce, green/red pepper, celery, onion, water chestnuts, and frozen peas.
- Mix together sour cream, sugar, and dry Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix.
- Spread dressing evenly on top of the salad layers.
- Add grated cheese and crumbled bacon on top.
- Chill for at least 12 hours. Toss before serving.
Make this the day before — the overnight chill lets all the layers meld together for the best flavor.
