Chill 12+ hrs

Ingredients

  • 1 head lettuce
  • 1 green or red pepper
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 small can sliced water chestnuts
  • 1 pkg frozen peas
  • Grated cheese (for topping)
  • 12 slices bacon, crumbled (for topping)
  • Dressing:
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 pkg dry Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix (original flavor)

Directions

  1. Layer salad ingredients one after another in a large bowl or trifle dish: lettuce, green/red pepper, celery, onion, water chestnuts, and frozen peas.
  2. Mix together sour cream, sugar, and dry Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix.
  3. Spread dressing evenly on top of the salad layers.
  4. Add grated cheese and crumbled bacon on top.
  5. Chill for at least 12 hours. Toss before serving.
Make this the day before — the overnight chill lets all the layers meld together for the best flavor.
