Ingredients
- 2¾ cups milk or half-and-half or butter
- 2 slightly beaten eggs
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ cup seedless raisins
- 2 tsp vanilla
- Bread cups (to spread mixture over)
Directions
- Combine milk, eggs, and spread over bread cups.
- Stir in remaining ingredients and pour mixture into an 8-inch round baking dish.
- Place in a shallow pan with hot water around it, 1 inch deep.
- Bake at 350°F for about 45 minutes, or until a knife inserted halfway between center and outside comes out clean.
Tip: The water bath (bain-marie) ensures even, gentle heat for a perfectly set custard.
