Beef Stroganoff

Classic beef and mushroom stroganoff in a rich beef broth and sour cream sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp butter (for browning meat)
  • 4 Tbsp butter (for sauce)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1 (12 oz) can button mushrooms
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ⅛ tsp pepper
  • 3 tsp beef bouillon or 3 cubes
  • 1 can (10½ oz) beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream

Directions

  1. Brown meat in 2 Tbsp butter. Remove meat and set aside. Add 4 Tbsp butter to the same pan.
  2. Sauté garlic, onion, and mushrooms for about 5 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat. Stir in salt, flour, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Add bouillon. Stir in 10½ oz can of beef broth and reserved meat juices gradually.
  5. Bring to a boil, stirring until thickened. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.
  6. Over low heat, add sour cream and meat. Heat slowly until hot. Do not boil.
