Ingredients
- 1½ oz gin
- ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
- ¾ oz simple syrup
- 2 oz Champagne or dry sparkling wine, chilled
- Ice
- Lemon twist, to garnish
Variation: Substitute cognac for gin for a softer, richer French 75.

Directions
- Combine gin, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake vigorously for 15 seconds until well chilled.
- Strain into a coupe or champagne flute.
- Top with chilled Champagne or sparkling wine.
- Garnish with a lemon twist and serve immediately.
Simple syrup: Equal parts sugar and water, heated until dissolved. Cool before using. Keeps refrigerated for 2 weeks.
