Meatloaf — Aunt Marian's

Ground beef with cornflake crumbs, egg & chili sauce — topped with ketchup and baked at 350°

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • ½ cup cornflake crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • Lots of salt and pepper
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 3 T (heaping) chili sauce
  • Couple shakes of ketchup and extra salt

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine ground beef, cornflake crumbs, egg, salt, pepper, onion, and chili sauce. Mix well.
  3. Form into a loaf and place in a baking pan.
  4. Top with ketchup and a little more chili sauce.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 40–45 minutes.
  6. Then uncover for an additional 15 minutes to brown the top.
  7. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.
Aunt Marian's Note: The chili sauce — not ketchup — is what makes this meatloaf. Don't substitute.
