Beef Stroganoff

Sirloin steak strips, cream of mushroom soup & sour cream — from Karen Hitt, served over noodles or rice

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into strips
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp minced onion
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 T ketchup (optional)
  • Egg noodles or rice, for serving

Directions

  1. Cut sirloin into strips and brown in a small amount of fat in a skillet. Remove and set aside.
  2. Add sliced onions to the pan and cook until softened.
  3. Add minced garlic and minced onion. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Combine cream of mushroom soup and sour cream. Add to the pan.
  5. Add Worcestershire sauce and ketchup if using.
  6. Return beef strips to the pan. Heat through — do not boil.
  7. Serve over egg noodles or rice.
Karen Hitt's Note: Don't let the sour cream mixture boil — it will separate. Keep it at a gentle heat and stir frequently.
